UK SME insurance platform Aurora, which will be launched within autumn 2022, has hired Ian Thomas (pictured) as product and insight head.
“I’m very excited to be joining such an innovative and passionate team in Aurora,” said Thomas, who is joining the managing general agent from WTW where he was director of risk, insurance consulting, and technology.
“Their clear and transformative vision of how SMEs should be able access the right cover is ground-breaking and will no doubt benefit a huge number of businesses as the company continues to grow in the coming years.”
Featuring personalised and real-time quotations, the commercial insurance platform will be working with customers either on a direct basis or through selected broking partners. Aurora uses data-powered insights and algorithmic underwriting, allowing the creation and design of bespoke policies.
“Ian will be fundamental in ensuring that we provide our customers with data-driven insight and education,” noted Aurora co-founder and chief executive Jan-Vincent Finn. “His work will inform the future of the products we offer while communicating why and how these products are relevant.
“We hope our focus on serving the underserved and underinsured will be transformative for small to medium businesses.”
Thomas’s credentials include time spent at DAS, Ageas, and First Assist.
