Today marks the official launch of new insurance platform Aurora with its global specialist health offering – which it claims is the first of its kind provided to UK micro-, small- and medium-sized businesses.
Backed by insurer AXIS, the offering provides SME businesses with cover to support employees and their immediate family in dealing with major oncological, neurological and cardiological conditions and even transplants.
The cover provides employees with access to Precision Medicine, as well as international medical assistance from initial diagnosis through to treatment. The medical concierge service also covers accommodation and travel costs for the patient and a loved one if travelling abroad becomes necessary to access the best possible treatment for their diagnosis.
Carla Havemann, head of partnership, strategy and engagement at Aurora, said the insurance platform was proud to present global specialist health as its first product on the platform.
“Our goal is to give SMEs access to the kind of premium insurance products previously only available to larger businesses,” Havemann said. “To deliver on this mission, we’re working closely with carefully selected partners to offer SMEs, via our platform, augmented products they are unable to obtain elsewhere, bringing both transparency and greater value to customers.”
The product is available to SMEs directly through Aurora’s new platform which offers customers a tailored online journey with risk management insights to help them understand the cover they’re buying. It will also be available via selected brokers through WTW Networks.
New products covering group personal accident, business interruption, professional indemnity, public liability, employers’ liability and property insurance for SMEs will follow in the coming weeks and months as Aurora continues to establish itself in the market.
