SCOR Business Solutions has appointed Holger Schaefer (pictured) as global head of casualty and environmental impairment liability (EIL), effective March 1.
Based in Cologne, Schaefer will report to Claire McDonald, CEO of SCOR Business Solutions. He succeeds Daniel Carerras, who assumed the role of chief underwriting officer, casualty, for both insurance and reinsurance in 2024.
He later led the development of AGCS Germany’s first sales team, overseeing key account and broker relationship management. In subsequent roles, he expanded this model globally as global head of sales & distribution. He also served as CEO for AGCS Pacific, based in Sydney, and most recently as regional CEO for APAC at Allianz Trade, based in Hong Kong.
In his new position, Schaefer will lead SCOR Business Solutions' casualty and EIL teams across the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. SCOR says that his appointment comes during a period of growth for the company, which recently added Brett Solway to support the UK casualty portfolio.
McDonald said Schaefer’s experience will contribute to SCOR’s expanding global presence.
"Holger's extensive experience in leading underwriting businesses and driving profitable growth will be invaluable as we continue to expand our global presence. His proven track record, combined with his innovative approach, makes him the perfect fit for our team. We are excited about the fresh perspectives and leadership Holger will bring to our organization,” McDonald said.
In other recent developments, SCOR P&C also announced the appointment of Arta Nasradini as head of aviation, effective Feb. 1.
Nasradini is based in Zurich and will join the reinsurance specialty lines management team, reporting to Eric Jenck, head of specialty lines.
