Howden Re has announced the appointment of Emily Lo as head of analytics for Asia, as part of its efforts to expand its presence in the region.

The company posted on LinkedIn that Lo will bring additional actuarial expertise and capabilities to better serve clients in Asia.

"As we continue to build our business in Asia, Emily brings valuable additional actuarial expertise and capability to our clients in the region," the post read.

Lo is a qualified actuary from Australia with a broad range of experience in the general insurance and reinsurance sectors across Asia and Australia. Her expertise spans pricing, reserving, product development, and capital and reinsurance management for both retail and commercial lines of business.

Before joining Howden Re, Lo served as Asia costing head at Swiss Re, where she provided pricing expertise in markets such as China, Southeast Asia, and India. Following her tenure at Swiss Re, she held various positions at AXA Hong Kong and Macau. In these roles, she led pricing, product management, and reinsurance functions.

Lo also contributed to structured reinsurance solutions, telematics initiatives, and the use of external big data in product design and premium setting.

"Emily brings a wealth of actuarial and strategic experience to this important role," said Andy Souter, the head of Asia Pacific for Howden Re International.

Souter described analytics as a vital component of the value the company offers to clients in Asia, adding, “Emily further deepens our regional expertise in this critical capability that continues to consistently deliver across our platform.”
