Hamilton Re, the Bermuda-based insurance and reinsurance platform of Hamilton Insurance Group, has announced its entry into the credit, bond, and political risk reinsurance market.

As part of the expansion, the company has appointed Sergio Lottimore (pictured above) as vice president of this newly established segment.

Lottimore, based in Bermuda, will report to Peter Riihiluoma, senior vice president and head of specialty reinsurance at Hamilton Re.

Lottimore has 18 years of experience in specialty and financial lines. Before joining Hamilton, he was vice president and credit lines underwriter at Validus Re for three years. He previously spent 15 years at MS Amlin, where he held various positions of increasing responsibility.

The new offerings will be integrated into Hamilton Re’s specialty reinsurance portfolio, which provides a range of reinsurance solutions across property, casualty, and specialty lines for global clients.

Hamilton Re CEO Megan Graves described the expansion as a step toward further diversifying the company’s global reinsurance capabilities.

“Our expansion into credit, bond and political risk reinsurance marks a significant milestone for Hamilton Re in its commitment to building a globally diversified reinsurance offering,” Graves said. “This exciting development is bolstered by Hamilton’s AM Best financial strength rating upgrade to ‘A’ (excellent) announced earlier this year.

She also highlighted Lottimore’s addition to the team, citing his expertise in mortgage, trade credit, surety, political risks, and structured credit lines.

Hamilton Insurance Group, headquartered in Bermuda, provides specialty insurance and reinsurance services globally through its subsidiaries. Its underwriting platforms include Hamilton Global Specialty, Hamilton Select, and Hamilton Re.
