UK business insurer Simply Business has renewed its partnership with the England Amputee Football Association (EAFA).
The sponsorship renewal comes as the EAFA plans to compete in the World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) World Cup in Turkey. A release noted that apart from being the host, Turkey is the team to beat this year, as the team won the European Amputee Football Championship in Krakow in 2021.
The EAFA is currently led by Owen Coyle Jr. – the son of former Premier League manager Owen Coyle.
“We are extremely honoured and grateful for the support of Simply Business once again for the England Amputee National Team. We have worked with Simply Business for five years and have created some fantastic memories with them on and off the pitch,” said Coyle Jr. “We are hoping to make everyone in the organisation proud later this year when we fly to Istanbul, Turkey for the WAFF World Cup.”
Established in 1990, the EAFA has been an independent organisation without English Football Association (FA) funding – making it one of the few disability teams not to receive any funding from the FA.
Simply Business has sponsored the EAFA since 2017 and has provided more than £200,000 of funding to the charity.
“Without the generous financial support of Simply Business, we wouldn’t be able to operate and compete as we continue to lead the way as one of the strongest teams across the globe. We feel forever grateful for the backing we have received as an association,” commented Coyle Jr.
“We’re delighted to continue our partnership with The EAFA – a charity, and group of people, who have inspired us time and again over the past five years,” said Simply Business UK CEO Alan Thomas.
“The charity is on a mission to transform participation in amputee football across the country, while also producing the world’s best national team,” Thomas added. “It’s been a privilege to witness this incredible journey first-hand during the course of our partnership so far and we’re excited to see them continue to go from strength to strength.”
Last week, Simply Business announced the launch of its annual small business grant program “Business Boost,” which is now on its third year. The insurer will award one lucky business – selected by a panel of judges – a £25,000 grant.
