Legal & General has elevated insurance account manager Darren Prior (pictured) to serve as head of broker within the British giant’s general insurance (GI) division.
In an announcement by the FTSE 100 insurer, L&G said the promotion is part of its strategy not only to grow the business but to also continue to enhance processes for both brokers and consumers. Reporting to broker & intermediary director Simon Hird, Prior will be in charge of developing the company’s broker GI proposition and strategy.
“I am excited to be starting my new role to help further build and develop our broker propositions and relationships across the home insurance division,” commented the promoted executive, who previously managed key broker/partner relationships within L&G’s broker channel.
“I look forward to working closely with the team to find innovative ways to provide efficient and smooth journeys for our brokers and further grow our position in the general insurance market.”
Before coming onboard in 2016, Prior worked at the likes of Norwich Union, Aviva, and Markerstudy Group. He brings more than three decades of insurance and protection markets experience to his new position.
Commenting on the development, Hird said: “Darren’s appointment illustrates Legal & General’s long-term commitment to brokers and our desire to build on our presence in the broker market.
“We believe brokers are integral to the growth of the general insurance industry, so Darren’s experience will prove invaluable and is testament to our investment in the broker home insurance market as we look to further expand our offering in 2019.”
