Real estate broker JM Glendinning Real Estate has announced its expansion into London, establishing a new office at 1 Bedford Row.
The new London office will be led by Somerset Akerman (pictured, left) and Jon-Paul Matyus-Flynn (pictured, right), both of whom bring experience from their previous roles at Estates Insurance Group (EIG). According to a news release, the expansion aligns with JM Glendinning Real Estate’s ongoing growth strategy, which has included organic development and the acquisition of Madoc & Rhodes, a vehicle, home, and property insurance broker, earlier this year.
Akerman spent five years at EIG, transitioning from running personal and commercial lines to a focus on real estate business development.
He expressed enthusiasm about joining JM Glendinning. “I got a real taste for the real estate world during my time at EIG,” Akerman said. “The JMG Group’s ‘people-first’ approach stood out to me, and the opportunity to join the group’s real estate business to head up a brand new office with my former colleague Jon-Paul was too good an opportunity to pass up.”
Matyus-Flynn also brings a wealth of experience, having worked in motor, high net worth home insurance, and commercial portfolios before focusing on real estate business development at EIG. He highlighted the potential to build a new client base in London under the backing of JM Glendinning and the JMG Group.
“Having support from Chris [Hitch, managing director of JM Glendinning Real Estate] and the team, as well as the wider JMG group, will enable us to continue building the relationships we’ve spent time creating and nurturing,” Matyus-Flynn said.
Hitch emphasised the importance of the London expansion. “I’ve been looking for the right people to help us build the business in London,” he said. “It’s not every day you meet professionals with the professionalism, determination, and drive both Somerset and Jon-Paul have. This is a superb opportunity for us to grow the business, strengthen our offering, and build on the strong regional brand we have built in the Midlands over the last seven years.”
Founded in 2017 by Hitch, JM Glendinning Real Estate operates as part of the JMG Group. The company manages insurance portfolios for clients at various stages of the property development cycle and employs 15 people.
