German insurance provider Getsafe has arrived on Britain’s shores.
The Heidelberg-headquartered insurtech, which is keen to eventually serve the whole of Europe with a range of products, began its foray outside of its home turf with the UK launch of Getsafe’s flagship offering which is digital contents insurance. For its British expansion, Getsafe has partnered with specialist insurer Hiscox.
“Getsafe acts as a platform with multiple carriers, including Munich Re and AXA, providing the capacity in the background,” noted chief executive and co-founder Christian Wiens (pictured). “With Hiscox, we have a renowned carrier for our UK contents product at our side and are pleased to be working with them.”
Meanwhile the new market player has also established an independent subsidiary based in London. This will allow Getsafe to operate in the market regardless of the Brexit outcome.
Wiens added: “Over the last two years, we have shown that our product meets a core need for the young, tech-savvy generation. With our insurance delivered through your smartphone, we are developing a product that fits perfectly with the living and communication habits of this generation.”
This year Getsafe also plans to roll out a fully digital life insurance policy, initially in Germany.
