As risk director, Maxwell will have responsibility for overseeing all risk matters within the commercial lines business and will also serve as a member of the commercial executive committee. He will report to Allianz Holdings chief risk officer John Berry.
Maxwell brings with him more than 30 years of experience in the market. He joins Allianz from PwC, where he served as partner in its insurance risk advisory practice. He also previously served as interim CRO at MS Amlin. Maxwell had also spent many years in several operational and advisory roles as a risk management specialist in companies like EY and Marsh. He also served as CRO at BG Group.
“James brings vast industry experience and insight to Allianz from his previous career in financial services and beyond,” said John Berry. “I am delighted that James has agreed to join Allianz.”

For the third quarter of 2022, Allianz posted total revenues of €34.8 billion – up 1.3% from Q3 2021. Meanwhile, for the nine months of 2022 it reported total revenues of €116 billion – an increase of 5.3% from the first nine months of 2021.
