Global (re)insurer MS Amlin has strengthened its risk and compliance function with two new senior hires. Ruth Adamson (pictured left) will join the firm as head of insurance and financial risk, while Kevin Ball (pictured right) will join as head of compliance. Both will report to chief risk officer Vishal Desai when they join MS Amlin later this year.
Adamson brings with her 17 years of risk management experience, and for the past eight years has worked as head of risk and governance for AEGIS London. Prior to this, she also spent time at Aspen Re. Adamson graduated from the University of Cambridge and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Ball joins MS Amlin from Ascot Group, where he has worked since 2004 and served as head of compliance for the last seven years. Ball has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry and has also worked at Hiscox with its operations team. According to his LinkedIn, he has certificates and licences from the International Compliance Association (ICA), FinTech Global, University of St Andrews, and the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
Desai said that both roles are integral to the growth of the firm.
“It is testament to our focus on attracting best-in-class risk management and compliance talent to partner with the business in the next phase of its journey,” Desai said.
MS Amlin head of sustainability Amir Sethu recently spoke to Insurance Business about the firm’s sustainability strategy and how the industry has the chance to “do the right thing.”
