Hiscox has tapped Steven Pearsall to lead the company’s directors’ and officers’ liability insurance (D&O) book, bringing in the two-decade industry stalwart as D&O line underwriter within the specialist global insurer’s London Market business.
Based in London, Pearsall will be heading a team of five underwriters. The AIG alumnus was financial lines head in the London Market division of The Hartford, and specialises not only in D&O but also in the areas of financial institutions, professional indemnity, and representations and warranties.
“Hiscox is such a quality brand in the insurance market, and it’s a privilege to join the company at a time when it is actively looking to invest in further developing its D&O presence,” commented Pearsall.
“Given the increasingly litigious environment, we’re acutely aware of the need to ensure our clients can continue to access the comprehensive cover they require to protect their directors and officers – which is precisely where our long-held expertise can help.”
The underwriting hire will have a key focus on US risks and certain international D&O.
Hiscox London Market casualty divisional director Colin Buchanan noted: “Steven’s appointment will be a huge asset to us as we look to support our clients and brokers, and continue to build our D&O market share.
“With deep financial lines experience, Steven has a great track record of success in building profitable D&O books, and I’m looking forward to working with him as we grow our D&O capabilities.”
Headquartered in Bermuda and listed on the London Stock Exchange, Hiscox operates in 14 countries with a workforce of more than 3,000 people.
