Mosaic Insurance has promoted Francesca Harland (pictured) to the role of global head of professional liability.

Harland, who has been a key underwriter for the division since its inception in 2021, replaces Anna Jay, who transitioned to the position of active underwriter for Syndicate 1609 in July.

Jay commented: “We are thrilled to announce Francesca’s promotion, recognising the value she has brought to Mosaic and her ability to strategically drive the business forward.

“Professional liability is a core class for Mosaic, embodying the key characteristics we look for in portfolios of business and distinguishing itself from peers by offering expert insights in carefully selected specialist segments.

“We continue to see plenty of opportunity to grow the portfolio, both by segment and geographic footprint, and Francesca has the right experience and approach to deliver this.”

Specialising in non-standard risks for complex sectors, the professional liability unit has seen its gross written premium surge by nearly 400% since its launch.

Harland brings extensive experience to her new role, with a background focused on emerging and miscellaneous risks. She joined Mosaic three years ago from Pembroke Syndicate 4000.

During her time at Mosaic, she has played a crucial role in expanding the company’s professional liability offerings both for the US and internationally.

“I’m delighted to be stepping up to lead the professional liability unit at Mosaic,” Harland commented. “I’m proud of our growth and traction in the global market to date, and look forward to working with this talented team to continue building our business in a dynamic marketplace.”

Mosaic’s professional liability division, now consisting of 10 specialists, offers a broad range of coverages to a wide client base, including errors & omissions and after the event (litigation liability) insurance.
