Simon Brookes (pictured) has been appointed as Gallagher’s new financial lines chief, the company has announced. Brookes will report directly to Julian Wallers, CEO of Financial Risks, and will lead Gallagher Specialty’s management liability, cyber, financial institutions, and professional risks teams.

Before he was appointed financial lines head, Brookes served as Gallagher’s managing director of professional risks. He joined Gallagher in 2011 through the acquisition of Heath Lambert.

“We are absolutely delighted that Simon is taking the helm of these teams,” said Wallers. “His reputation as a top market practitioner plus his first-class leadership skills, reinforces our commitment to investing in the best expertise to deliver a market-leading service to our clients. Under Simon’s leadership, I know our team will continue to grow and achieve even bigger and better things in the future.”

Brookes, meanwhile, expressed his eagerness to perform his duties as the new financial lines chief, with high hopes that he will enhance Gallagher’s professional relationship with its clients. He also expressed his confidence in the abilities and capabilities of his team,

“We have 100 skilled professionals looking after our clients in this specialist area of risk and I am very pleased to be broadening my remit and bringing together these talented teams to ensure a cohesive service to clients,” he said. “The risks that companies face are constantly changing and becoming more complex and businesses need the support of an experienced risk management partner who can guide them. I’m looking forward to supporting the teams and working together to ensure we deliver the most effective risk solutions that our clients need.”

The move comes on the back of a double celebration for Gallagher. It recently saw its position climb in the ranking of the world’s top 20 insurance brokers by revenue – moving up into third place overall. In addition, in the UK, the company recently secured a major cyber insurance contract with The Law Society.
