Aon is acquiring Griffiths & Armour, a UK-based insurance broker known for its expertise in professional indemnity and general insurance.

Announcing the signing of a definitive agreement, Aon said Griffiths & Armour will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the group’s UK operations and will trade as “Griffiths & Armour, an Aon company” when the transaction is finalised most likely in the first quarter of 2025.

Aon chief executive Greg Case noted: “As we continue to go further, faster to help our clients navigate growing uncertainty and volatility, we are looking forward to welcoming Griffiths & Armour to Aon.

“Our complementary capabilities and cultures will create unmatched client and colleague experiences across the UK and Ireland and contribute to our global 3x3 Plan to accelerate our Aon United strategy.”

With a deep specialisation in professional indemnity and a solid reputation in general insurance broking, Griffiths & Armour is manned by around 200 colleagues across offices in Liverpool, Manchester, London, and Dublin.

“Becoming part of the Aon family is the result of a meticulous search for a trusted partner with whom we can work, to ensure the future success of Griffiths & Armour and to enable us to enhance, grow, and expand our unique client proposition,” shared Carl Evans (pictured left), professional risks CEO at Griffiths & Armour.

“This proposition is founded on a culture that has been created and refined over the last 90 years, of which we are immensely proud.”

Matt Donnelly (pictured right), chief executive of general insurance, expressed optimism for the deal, emphasising that Aon’s dedication to professionalism and client service aligns closely with Griffiths & Armour’s values.

“In them we have found a partner who will not only help deliver continued growth but also preserve and embrace the culture that we and our client community hold dear,” he stated. “We very much look forward to this next chapter.”

Meanwhile, Jane Kielty, the UK CEO of Aon, pointed to the “fantastic results” that the merger is expected to yield.

“Griffiths & Armour is a brilliant business and will bring quality, expertise, and an exceptional platform for growth to our firm,” Kielty noted, adding that Aon looks forward to collaborating with Griffiths & Armour’s leadership to drive value for clients and colleagues.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
