The Insurance Charities will be holding its annual awareness week on June 20-24 and is calling on the insurance community to help spread the word.
“We are the only charity in the UK and Ireland solely supporting those working across the whole insurance sector and have done so for over 120 years,” highlighted ARAG Legal Protection chief executive and The Insurance Charities honorary president Adrienne O’Sullivan (pictured).
“We can help transform insurance people’s lives for the better and provide a lifeline to support them with whatever difficulties they and their families are experiencing. Without people coming together to raise awareness, we couldn’t support as many colleagues as we do. After a difficult few years and the cost-of-living rising sharply, our help may be needed more than ever.”
Those interested in supporting the awareness-raising campaign can download a free supporter toolkit from the charity’s website.
Separately, in a video message, O’Sullivan said: “We are acutely aware that throughout the UK and Ireland the cost-of-living has soared recently, and all indications are that it will continue to do so… In the last financial year, The Insurance Charities awarded over £612,000. This supported current and former employees who had fallen on hard times and suffered some financial hardship.
“We helped with things such as funeral expenses, essential furniture, household appliances, and property adaptations where injury or illness had fallen in the household. Whether you are an individual or an employer, we are calling on you to get involved in our campaign in any way you can.”
The honorary president is keen to get the message across, to ensure that no insurance employee goes without the charity’s assistance when they might need it.
Set up in 1902 in London originally as The Insurance Clerks Orphanage, The Insurance Charities offers practical and financial support to past and present employees, and their families, of the UK and Ireland insurance industries.
