For its fourth annual Brokers Charity Awards campaign in 2021, SEIB Insurance Brokers is inviting the public to nominate small charities to receive a total of £43,000 in grants.
Nominations for the general public to select their favourite charities are now open until January 12, 2021. A shortlist of the nominated charities will then be prepared, and SEIB’s clients will be invited to vote for their charity of choice. The winning charities and the runners-up – a total of 10 winners – will be announced at the 2021 SEIB Charity Awards luncheon.
All nominated charities need to be registered in the UK and should state what the grant would be used for, for tax purposes.
The top winning charity will receive the first prize grant of £10,000, while the charity with a turnover of under £100,000 will receive the second prize of £8,000. The third prize will be £6,000, fourth prize £4,000, fifth prize £3,500, sixth prize £3,000, and seventh prize £2,500. The remaining three runners-up will each receive £2,000.
Past winners of the top prize are not eligible for the larger grants, but if they are nominated and gain enough votes they could still receive one of the £2,000 grant prizes, a company release explained.
In previous years, the winning grants had been required to go toward capital projects. But SEIB changed that rule for the 2020 and 2021 charity awards. For next year, the awards are focusing on smaller charities, and the maximum annual turnover for charities benefitting has been capped at £10 million.
“At SEIB we firmly believe in contributing to the common good. The challenges of the past year have made this even more important and I am delighted that we are able to grant money to the causes that really matter to our loyal customers,” said SEIB CEO Barry Fehler.
