Markerstudy recently hosted its annual Charity Boxathon, where more than 60 volunteers from the company came together to support 4Louis, a Sunderland-based charity that assists individuals affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, and the death of a baby or child.
In a single day, the volunteers produced over 10,000 items for memory boxes, which are distributed to hospitals across the UK.
The event took place at Markerstudy’s Peterborough office, where employees assembled memory boxes and the items that go inside them. These memory boxes offer bereaved families a way to store meaningful items and remember their lost loved ones.
Bob and Tracey McGurrell, the grandparents of Louis, after whom the charity is named, were present during the event.
Bob McGurrell expressed gratitude for the support received, noting that the volunteers were engaging and respectful. He emphasised that the work done by the volunteers will enable 4Louis to continue supporting bereaved families.
Emily Taylor, ESG engagement manager at Markerstudy, highlighted the company's commitment to giving back to charities and good causes. She stated that being able to assist 4Louis, a charity that provides significant support to many, is something she takes great pride in.
In other recent developments, Markerstudy also revealed its plans to acquire Hughes Insurance, pending regulatory approvals and standard conditions. Hughes Insurance, with a nearly 50-year history, serves over 85,000 customers in motor, home, van, travel, and commercial insurance.
In June, the company also announced the completion of its merger with Atlanta Group.
Speaking to Insurance Business in September last year, Markerstudy CEO Kevin Spencer outlined the ambition to be a “one-stop shop” for insurance. The combined business, he suggested, would also set its sights on further M&A.
