If you’re part of an insurance company planning to make charitable donations, here’s a creative and fun way to raise funds: covering your bosses with slime.
That’s what employees at King’s Lynn-based broker
Adrian Flux Insurance did recently – they gunged their managers and supervisors to raise more than £10,000 for Comic Relief.
According to a report by the Eastern Daily Press, Adrian Flux employees pledged cash towards the bosses they wanted gunged, with an original goal of raising £5,000 by covering almost 40 bosses with slime.
However, more managers took part, allowing the broker to more than double its fundraising target. The report said it took three hours and 600 litres of gunge to get through every manager and supervisor.
The brokerage firm, which employs about 900 people, is “very proud” to generate charity funds through its “Gunge the Manager” fundraiser, said event organiser and Adrian Flux PA Donna Desborough.
“Everyone has had a good laugh pledging the cash and then watching the managers get gunged - the atmosphere has been fantastic,” the Eastern Daily Press quoted her as saying.
Among those covered with slime was administrative team manager Georgina Bishop, who told the publication: “I thought I was a good boss, so I can’t believe I’ve actually been gunged. But my team said that I look good all the time and they wanted to see me not looking my best.”
“Even though I feel horrible right now, it’s all for Comic Relief and we’ve had a great time fundraising,” she added.
