AbbeyAutoline has announced that it has raised £150,000 for the Northern Ireland Hospice.
Staff from various divisions participated in the fundraising efforts, utilising company-wide initiatives such as a Give As You Earn (GAYE) contribution scheme, as well as events like sponsored walks, coffee mornings, and casual Fridays.
The £150,000 donation is part of the long-running association between AbbeyAutoline’s parent company, Prestige Insurance Holdings, and the local charity. It also coincides with the broker’s ongoing community engagement programme to commemorate its 50th anniversary.
As part of this programme, AbbeyAutoline employees committed 50 hours of voluntary service to Northern Ireland Hospice. They undertook roles in hospice shops across Northern Ireland, supported bucket collections, and tended to the gardens at the charity’s adult in-patient unit at Somerton House and the children’s in-patient unit at Horizon House.
“We’ve always believed in making a real and lasting difference to the communities we serve, and we’re delighted to have been able to contribute in this way in our 50th year in business,” said managing director Julie Gibbons in an emailed news release.
The Northern Ireland Hospice provides essential care for individuals and families dealing with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses, offering specialised services both in their facilities and within the local community.
“We are so grateful for the continued support from AbbeyAutoline for Northern Ireland Hospice,” said Amanda Connolly, the charity’s corporate fundraiser. “It’s only through the support of our local business community that we can continue to provide specialist palliative care across Northern Ireland to over 4,000 babies, children, adults and their families each year. A big ‘thank you’ to AbbeyAutoline staff from the bottom of our hearts.”
AbbeyAutoline's 50th anniversary programme has been focused on giving back to local communities. Its previous initiatives include the 50k in May Challenge, where staff members raised £4,000 for AWARE NI, and 50 Ways of Giving Back, which saw staff supporting 50 local charities or voluntary organisations through community service projects like clean-up and food drives.
