Aon-owned insurance broker and consulting firm NFP has acquired HELPGB, a Midlands-based consultancy specialising in human resources and health & safety. Under the deal, HELPGB director Clark Hunter (pictured) will remain while managing director Dave Townsend and company secretary Karen Townsend will retire.
Matt Pawley, president of NFP in Europe, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Clark and the talented HELPGB team while gaining from the depth of knowledge they will bring to our specialty HR and health & safety solutions business.
“We also wish Dave and Karen all the best in their retirement as we look to build on the brilliant reputation they’ve earned alongside Clark over the years.”
HELPGB came to life when the Townsends’ Honest Employment Law Practice (HELP) and Hunter’s Hudson Health & Safety Services combined. Under NFP’s umbrella, HELPGB clients will now have access to enhanced global resources, aiding them in navigating the intricate HR and health & safety landscape.
Reflecting on the transaction, financial terms of which were not disclosed, Dave Townsend thanked the people who contributed to the success of HELPGB over the past 21 years.
“I am very grateful to the staff and clients who have helped make this 21-year adventure so special, and I could not be handing over the reins to a better company,” he said. “NFP’s values align with those of our company: people and clients come first. I know I can now enjoy my retirement with the assurance that what I helped build is in very safe hands.”
An Aon company, NFP is manned by more than 7,700 colleagues in the UK, Ireland, the US (including US territory Puerto Rico), and Canada. The firm’s expertise spans commercial business insurance, employee benefits, people consultancy, health & safety, and individual financial planning.
