The entire workforce of Crendon Insurance Brokers is moving to Newstead Insurance’s office in Birmingham as part of the latter’s now-completed acquisition of the local commercial brokerage.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Neil [McLauchlan] and his team to Newstead,” said Newstead director Sarah Giles, whose camp has been part of the Global Risk Partners (GRP) family since 2020. “Crendon is a highly-respected broker and will be a perfect fit for us as we seek to build our market presence in the Birmingham area.
“As well as our focus on organic growth, we continue to have an appetite for further acquisitions and welcome opportunities to talk to vendors should they be considering a sale.”
Founded in 2004, Crendon specialises in commercial, construction, online retail, intellectual property and data protection/cyber liability, and other hard-to-place niche markets. It was snapped up by the GRP firm for an undisclosed sum.
“It was quickly evident from our discussions with Sarah that becoming part of Newstead was the right step for us to take,” commented Crendon managing director Neil McLauchlan.
“Sarah and the team share our ambitions for future growth, and this is also a great deal for our clients as we will be able to offer them the benefits of being part of the wider GRP family.”
The Crendon deal, which is Newstead’s second under GRP ownership, comes following the swoop for local broker Alford Burton in 2021.
