Samuel Shirley (pictured), who joined Fusion Specialty from Aviva in 2022, has been promoted from senior partner to M&A (mergers and acquisitions) managing partner for Fusion Specialty UK and to M&A global chief underwriting officer.
The dual role will see Shirley support the underwriting agency’s growth ambitions. He is credited for having played a pivotal role in setting up Fusion’s UK operation after helping grow Aviva’s M&A business and transactional risk portfolio.
“Since joining Fusion Specialty UK, Samuel has consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership capabilities, and his promotion is richly deserved,” Fusion co-founder and executive partner David Rogers said in an emailed release.
“His underwriting philosophy and knowledge complement Fusion’s strategic ambitions, and he is perfectly positioned to help grow our UK and international M&A insurance portfolio.
“The recent minority investment in Fusion’s parent Pop Group Holdings from private equity fund Direct Capital will further support our global expansion, organically and through selective acquisitions, and I look forward to Fusion’s continued success as Samuel assumes his new role.”
