Lloyd’s Managing Agent Antares has appointed industry veteran Joe Mellen as marine cargo underwriter effective immediately.
Mellen, whose insurance career started at Langtons Managing Agency in 1982, joins Antares from
Sompo Canopius. There he served as cargo underwriter for 12 years.
Experienced in underwriting a broad spectrum of cargo risks, the 35-year veteran has also held a series of underwriting roles at Kellett Group, Archer Group, and Trenwick.
“Antares is a respected and established player in the marine cargo sector, and I look forward to working with Henry [Maughan] and the team to further their position in this market,” said Mellen.
Maughan, class underwriter marine cargo, commented: “Joe is a highly respected and incredibly experienced underwriter. His expertise will be a significant asset which will complement our existing capabilities.”
He said Mellen will play a key role in the continued expansion of Antares’s marine cargo business.
