North P&I Club has launched a new initiative to help its members better understand their vulnerabilities to cyber risk and improve their cybersecurity ahead of the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) January 2021 deadline for safety compliance. As part of the initiative, North has partnered with HudsonCyber to offer its members access to the HACyberLogix platform.
HACyberLogix is a cloud-based program designed specifically for the maritime industry. It will enable North’s members to assess their cybersecurity capabilities in order to determine what changes need to be made for IMO compliance. During an initial trial period, North’s members will have access to the HACyberLogix Level 1 program with confidential assessments and reporting.
“North P&I Club is committed to assisting members prepare for the ever-changing regulatory environment, and this partnership with HudsonCyber will help our members meet the challenges presented by the upcoming requirement for cyber risks management to be included in safety-management systems from January 2021,” said Colin Gillespie, director of loss prevention at North.
The HACyberLogix platform integrates industry-leading cybersecurity standards, frameworks and practices, including the IMO’s International Ship and Port Security Code and the International Safety Management Code. This will allow North members to rapidly and cost-effectively implement cyber risk management practices compliant with IMO guidelines.
“Changes to operations may be time-consuming and complex,” Gillespie said. “We believe that the insights derived from CyberLogix will inform decision-making and allow efficient allocation of resources to support cybersecurity efforts in shipping companies.”
