Lloyd’s market specialist Neon has appointed Brian James and Richard Mander as class underwriter for cargo and class underwriter for marine liability, respectively.

Three-decade industry veteran James was class underwriter in charge of the cargo/war on land and agency business lines at Talbot Underwriting. Starting his career at Black Sea and Baltic General Insurance, he also worked at Wellington Underwriting for more than 10 years where he established Wellington Syndicate Services and Wellington Genoa.

Mander, on the other hand, was class underwriter for marine and energy liability at Brit Insurance. Prior to that, he served as assistant liability and energy underwriter at Navigators Underwriting Agency from 1997 to 2004.

“Brian and Richard are great additions to Neon’s Marine team,” said Neon group chief executive Martin Reith. “They join us at an exciting time as we continue to build and enhance our marine presence and offer access to market-shaping underwriters.”

Reith added: “Attracting high-quality talent is crucial to our aims, and Brian and Richard are tremendously experienced underwriters in the marine sector, bringing with them technical expertise and strong relationships from across the London market.”

Neon Underwriting Limited is a managing agent at Lloyd’s, with Neon Service Company (UK) Limited acting as agent for Neon Syndicate 2468.
