Zurich Insurance Group has announced Drazen Jaksic as the incoming CEO of Zurich UK, subject to regulatory approval.

Jaksic (pictured left), currently serving as CEO of Zurich Benelux, will step into the role as Tim Bailey (pictured right) transitions to lead the group’s newly established global Life Protection business.

New Zurich UK CEO

Jaksic joined Zurich in 2019, holding leadership roles including global head of accident & health for commercial insurance. Prior to this, he was senior vice president of accident & health at Chubb Europe. His career spans more than 30 years, with experience in property and casualty (P&C) and life insurance across global markets.

Alison Martin, CEO of EMEA & bank distribution at Zurich, said Jaksic’s expertise will be invaluable in one of the group’s most important markets.

“We are delighted to have a leader of Drazen’s calibre at the helm of Zurich UK, one of Zurich’s key markets. Drazen has made a significant impact since joining Zurich, and we look forward to seeing him continue this success at Zurich UK,” she said.

Commenting on his new role, Jaksic said he sees tremendous potential for growth in the market.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for me to continue to advance our position in the UK market. I can’t wait to get started, it’s clearly a very talented leadership team and a strong business unit. I see huge opportunities for us in the market, and I feel privileged to play a role in driving our future success,” he said.

New Zurich Life Protection CEO

Bailey, who led Zurich UK for the past four years, will now head Zurich’s global Life Protection business. He will report to Cara Morton, CEO of Zurich Global Ventures.

The newly created division reflects Zurich's emphasis on expanding its global protection footprint, a key part of its strategic vision.

Bailey said life insurance has been a major focus of his career, so building the new global unit is a unique opportunity.

“The opportunity to build and lead a new global business and establish Zurich as a world leader in this space is exciting. Over the last four years, Zurich UK has grown significantly and strengthened its market position. I have been fortunate to lead an outstanding team which I’m leaving in Drazen’s excellent hands. He has everything the business needs to continue to drive it forward,” he said.
