Health insurance intermediary Premier Choice Healthcare (PCH), part Brown & Brown Insurance’s European operations, has promoted sales director Darren Perkins (pictured) to managing director.

The announcement was made at PCH’s annual sales conference at Whittlebury Park in Northamptonshire. The event kicked off with a congratulatory video from Brown & Brown Insurance president and chief executive Powell Brown, who praised the team for a successful 2023 and extended his best wishes for the company’s future.

During the conference, PCH told more than 150 attendees that Perkins would succeed Stephen Hough as managing director as part of the company’s next phase of strategic growth. Hough, meanwhile, is shifting his focus to strategy and acquisitions.

Perkins’ predecessor remarked: “It is fantastic to see the succession planning we’ve done continue to take shape. Darren has been working alongside me over the last three years, and we are confident that he will do great things in his new role.”

The internal hire brings a wealth of experience to the post. Perkins’ career began in the ‘90s at the Bristol Contributory Welfare Association (BCWA) where he held various positions in claims and sales. In 2007, he joined the Jelf Group’s sales team before moving to Towergate in 2016 to serve as client relationship director. Perkins joined PCH in 2021.

Commenting on his new remit, the new managing director said: “I am delighted to take on this role, and the opportunity to have worked with Stephen and be a part of the strategic plan for the business have well prepared me. I am looking forward to leading the team as we work to achieve our next goal.”

Additionally, Perkins announced the appointment of Debbie Leggatt as the new operations director at PCH. Leggatt is taking over from Teresa Ostle, who served for a decade.
