Dr. Arun Thiyagarajan has stepped into the role of CEO at Vitality, taking the reins of its health insurance business. He replaces Dr. Keith Klintworth, who concludes a 14-year tenure with Vitality, transitioning to a consultancy role.

Vitality is a United Kingdom-based company offering private health insurance and life insurance to the UK market.

Thiyagarajan expressed enthusiasm about his new role, emphasising Vitality’s distinctive “shared value” approach to insurance.

“Vitality’s shared value approach to insurance, whereby their members, wider society alongside the insurer, gain value from everything they do, is completely unique. I look forward to taking forward these principles as we further grow the health business and being part of Vitality’s future,” he said.

Before joining Vitality, Thiyagarajan was global healthcare transformation director at Bupa, where he held various senior positions, including general manager of Bupa Global and UK health clinics, and medical director for UK health clinics. Earlier in his career, Thiyagarajan worked as a general practitioner and managing director at Hedena Health in Oxford.

According to Vitality CEO Neville Koopowitz, Thiyagarajan’s appointment comes at a time when the company is experiencing significant growth, with its membership base continuing to expand into 2025.

“Arun joins Vitality at a very important time for the business. Having seen considerable growth in recent years, we start 2025 with more Vitality members than ever before and a commitment to continue to provide them with an innovative range of health support across prevention, primary and secondary care," said Koopowitz.

Under Thiyagarajan’s leadership, Vitality aims to enhance its insurance offerings, services, and member engagement strategies. Additionally, Thiyagarajan holds a non-executive director position with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

Meanwhile, Klintworth will continue his association with Vitality in a consultancy role.
