HCML, a provider of corporate health and wellbeing services, specialist rehabilitation, and case management, has announced two senior appointments.

James Murray (pictured above) will assume the role of chief executive officer, effective September 30, 2024. With a background as a pharmacist, Murray has held several leadership roles in healthcare, most recently as a member of the executive board at Nuffield Health, where he served as chief commercial officer and later chief customer and strategy officer.

Murray will succeed Nick Delaney, the outgoing CEO, who will transition to a non-executive director role with HCML. Delaney, who has been with the company since November 2021, oversaw the business's revenue growth from £20 million to £50 million, driven by organic growth and strategic acquisitions, including the healthcare rm and CA Case Management.

Commenting on his departure, Delaney said that after nearly three years at the helm and achieving significant growth and diversification, the time felt right to pass on the leadership.

“The appointment of someone of James’s quality is a fantastic coup for HCML and shows what an attractive business the HCML team has built. James will undoubtedly lead our people and our business to even greater heights,” Delaney said.

Tim Hammond, HCML’s chair, expressed gratitude for Delaney’s leadership over the past three years and welcomed Murray, stating that HCML is well-positioned to continue its growth trajectory under the new CEO.

As CEO, Murray will apply his experience in operational excellence and customer-focused outcomes to consolidate and build on the company’s recent expansion and diversification efforts.

Murray also remarked that he was pleased to lead such a dynamic healthcare business and expressed confidence in its future potential.

In addition to Murray’s appointment, HCML has hired Vish Buldawoo as managing director of its corporate health and wellbeing division. Buldawoo, who previously worked at Centrica for 11 years in senior roles including HR director and chair of Centrica’s Healthcare Trust, will lead the division’s strategy and manage corporate relationships.

Buldawoo, who has previously worked with HCML as a client, commented that he has seen the positive impact of the organisation first-hand and looks forward to contributing to its continued growth and expanding its client base.
