The fast-growing independent insurance brokerage Broadway Insurance Brokers has today revealed it further expanded its team appointing Emma Wood (pictured) as its director of healthcare and Louisa Roberts as senior client executive.
In a Press release, Broadway noted that Wood joins after almost two decades of working in healthcare insurance, while Roberts has amassed some 25 years of experience with several of the North West's best-known brokers.
Commenting on the appointments, Broadway CEO Daniel Lloyd-John highlighted that a key factor in the continued growth of the firm has been a rise in the number of clients using health cover to attract and retain staff in the face of NHS treatment delays. With this in mind, he said, establishing a specific division to meet the need for support in adopting PMI programmes was a "strategic evolution" of Broadway's boutique service.
"Across the breadth of personal and corporate insurance provision, health cover is perhaps unique in that the vast majority of policyholders are left to deal directly with insurers once a claim has been made,” he said. “I don't think that anyone particularly likes making a claim. The process becomes even more of a daunting prospect for individuals who are unfamiliar with the way that the industry works.
"In addition, it can compound the natural distress created by the sort of medical conditions which oblige them to actually make a claim. We believe that clients and insurers alike really do benefit from having brokers who are pro-active not just advising about putting the right cover in place but being there to help make a claim less complicated or stressful.”
It is an approach which is already proving popular with both private and corporate clients, he said, and one which he is confident will prove especially fruitful as it comes at a time when private health insurance is increasingly viewed as a commercial priority by businesses of every size.
"It makes perfect sense that we should have that effort led by someone who is not only immensely talented and knows the sector well but who fits with our way of doing things,” he said. “In Emma, we are tremendously lucky to have found just such a person. Together with Louisa, she is another valuable addition to our team and will help make the task of supporting clients even easier."
