It’s been an eventful second half of the year for the AA, to say the least – from that
shock sacking in the third quarter to details emerging about a punch-up, as well as a request for repayment of bonuses and a possible wrongful dismissal claim. Now there’s more news about the insurer / roadside assistance firm.
A report by
The Telegraph said rival HomeServe has acquired the AA’s home emergency business. Described by new chief executive Simon Breakwell as a progressive step, the sale will involve the transfer of AA’s home emergency business customers and engineers in May 2018.
Breakwell previously revealed plans to review the AA’s business.
For the next three years the AA brand will be retained by HomeServe for the home emergency service, according to the report. It’s not immediately known for how much the latter bought the unit.
In February
HomeServe unveiled a form of home assistance cover, in partnership with
Aviva. The two developed AvivaResponse to support customers in the event of house glitches such as gas boiler breakdowns and electrical wiring emergencies.
