International broker Willis Towers Watson has appointed Thorsten Querfurt as the company’s new global industry leader for natural resources.
Querfurt will lead the firm’s growth efforts in natural resources, which comprises three principal sectors: oil, gas and chemicals, metals and mining, and power and utilities, including renewable energy and nuclear.
“This is a very exciting time,” Querfurt said. “The natural resources industry is going through some fascinating changes and Willis Towers Watson is in a great position to help clients navigate their emerging risks and challenges.”
Querfurt replaces Nick Dussuyer, who will now focus on his role as head of clients and industries for Western Europe.
Querfurt comes from Oliver Wyman, where he served as partner in the energy practice for four years. He also spent 10 years as a director at Corven Consulting, a firm focused on business transformation in the energy sector. In that role, he led a series of initiatives for oil and gas, manufacturing and electricity clients.
