Gallagher’s London-based energy practice will have a new leader in the form of chief executive Julian Raven (pictured).
Succeeding Jonathan Smith, Raven has been with Gallagher for 14 years. Prior to his promotion, the new energy practice CEO served as deputy managing partner. His predecessor, who is retiring from the industry, was at the helm from 2018.
“I am thrilled to be appointed CEO of Gallagher’s specialty energy practice having been part of the team since 2008,” said Raven, who came onboard Gallagher from Aon when the practice was set up.
“I am looking forward to leading the team and helping to build on the significant positive momentum Gallagher already has in the energy sector. We have ambitious growth aspirations, and I look forward to being part of the journey.”
Manned by more than 65 risk professionals, the specialist unit handles upstream, downstream, casualty, power, and renewable energy risks for international clients.
“I am delighted that Julian will become CEO of our energy practice and join my leadership team,” commented specialty chief executive Jonathan Turner. “Julian’s strong leadership skills, commercial acumen, and excellent reputation within the insurance industry makes him well-placed to lead the practice.
“Ensuring that we nurture and promote the talent within our business is a vital part of our long-term growth strategy, and it’s testament to the quality of talent available within Gallagher that we have been able to make this leadership appointment from within our existing team.”
