Ageas UK has unveiled its “Supporting Carers @ Ageas” initiative, aimed at assisting employees who serve as primary carers for their family members. The programme offers one week of paid leave, a dedicated resource hub, and a new internal support network to help impacted colleagues balance their dual roles effectively.

Although the Carers Leave Act, introduced in April, provides UK workers the statutory right to one week of unpaid leave annually, Ageas enhanced the benefit by offering the same period as paid leave.

Meanwhile, the specialised hub is a comprehensive platform offering a wide range of relevant resources and services, complemented by a network designed to serve as a community where Ageas employees with carer duties can find support, share experiences, and learn from one another.

Supporting Carers @ Ageas was announced ahead of the June 10-16 Carers Week. Citing data from Carers UK, Ageas said about one in seven of the working population in the country manages both professional commitments and caring responsibilities.

Sian Myers (pictured), human resources director at Ageas, emphasized the company’s resolve to support its workforce.

“Ageas’s Smart Working policy already allows employees the flexibility to manage their hours to accommodate appointments and other personal commitments, but we understand how difficult it can be to balance the demands of working and caring, and so we’ve carefully designed the Supporting Carers @ Ageas initiative to address the unique needs of our employee carers,” Myers said.

“From paid leave to a dedicated support network, we’re committed to providing meaningful support that makes a real difference in our employees’ lives and to the lives of the people they care for.”
