Global advisory, broking, and solutions firm WTW has picked Adrian Ruiz (pictured left) to succeed Glyn Thoms (pictured right) as head of FINEX (financial, professional, and executive) GB (Great Britain) cyber and TMT (technology, media, and telecommunications).

In his new position, the internal hire will oversee a team responsible for delivering cyber placements for both GB and global clients. Having been with WTW for 18 years, Ruiz has spent the past five years leading the growth of the FINEX GB cyber & TMT wholesale team.

Commenting on the appointment, FINEX GB head Marcus Porter Wright stated: “I am delighted that Adrian will lead our cyber & TMT business. Adrian has extensive experience and is extremely well-positioned to lead the team into the next stage of our evolution, following on from Glyn’s successful tenure.

“This appointment also reinforces the breadth of talent we have across the global FINEX business and enables us to continue to build our FINEX value proposition to provide expertise for our clients.”

Thoms, meanwhile, will assume the newly created position of global cyber strategic development leader. He will be responsible for shaping and managing the global FINEX cyber strategy. This includes working with regional cyber leaders to foster the growth of WTW’s cyber insurance and cyber risk consulting services.

Chairman of global FINEX cyber Peter Foster added: “This newly created role demonstrates our ongoing commitment in the global cyber space to continue to support our clients and future clients in this fast-moving area of risk.

“Glyn’s proven leadership qualities and experience, with successfully building one of our largest regional cyber P&L’s, position him to step right into this role and lead our strategic development.”
