It looks like London-headquartered company Travelex has moved a step forward following the cyberattack that had forced it to provide foreign exchange services manually.
A Reuters report cited Travelex as saying yesterday (January 28) that its UK money transfer and wire services are now fully operational online. For a while Travelex had to go manual and customers were advised to visit the foreign exchange company in-store.
Earlier this month, Travelex stated: “The software virus detected on December 31, 2019, is a ransomware known as Sodinokibi, also known as REvil. Travelex has been successful in containing the spread of the ransomware.
“Travelex also confirms that while there has been some data encryption, there is no evidence that structured personal customer data has been encrypted, and that there is still no evidence that any data has been exfiltrated.”
Aside from the UK and Europe, Travelex is also present in North America, Brazil, Greater China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, the Middle East, India, Africa, and Turkey. The firm previously said it was in discussions with its regulators across the world about the hack.
