Coalition has announced the appointment of Matt Foster as head of London Markets. A news release highlighted that, in his new role, Foster will lead underwriting for the London Market and complex risks. He will report to Stephen Wares, Coalition’s head of international underwriting.

“Matt is stepping into an important role in expanding our UK business. He will play a central part in supporting our broker partners with complex UK risks and London Market international wholesale business, as well as being a key leader of our underwriting team,” Wares said.

Foster joins Coalition with eight years of experience in cyber underwriting at Munich Re. He started as a graduate trainee in 2016 and was most recently promoted to senior cyber underwriter in January 2023.

The news release noted that the appointment follows the promotion of Tom Draper to UK managing director. Draper will oversee Coalition’s UK operations, including a team of over 30 employees. He reports to Kyle Bryant, Coalition’s head of international.

“Tom has been a key driver of expansion in our UK business since his arrival at Coalition in 2022,” Bryant said. “In his new role, he will be at the forefront of our continued commitment to business growth in the UK market through increased underwriting capacity and expertise, alongside high-quality customer service.”

Draper’s career includes experience in the cyber insurance sector, with previous roles at Willis and Lockton, and 10 years as technology and cyber practice leader at Gallagher.

The announcement comes as Coalition strengthens its presence in Europe, according to the news release. Recent appointments include Philip Cruickshank as regional development underwriter in Manchester and Tine Simonsen as European head of insurance.

Coalition provides insurance products and risk management tools to businesses in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Germany.
