AXIS Insurance has pledged its support to UK-based The Cyber Helpline, an organisation that helps individuals impacted by cyberattacks.
According to a statement by AXIS, the year-long sponsorship will enable both entities to share their expertise and raise additional funds to support more cybercrime victims.
“We are delighted to be affiliated with The Cyber Helpline,” said Stuart Quick, cyber centre of excellence lead for cyber and technology at AXIS. “This sponsorship provides an opportunity to leverage our experience in handling complex cyber risks to help individuals who have been victims of cyberattacks.”
Over the past 12 months, the scale and severity of cybercrime has increased rapidly, with The Cyber Helpline reporting a 362% increase in cases from the previous 12-month period.
Victims of cybercrimes can contact The Cyber Helpline to access a chatbot that provides anonymous expert advice 24/7, as well as to connect directly with expert volunteers from the cybersecurity community. The advice will help victims understand what has happened, contain the issue, recover and learn how to better protect themselves in the future.
“The Cyber Helpline takes a community-driven approach to helping victims of cybercrime and we are excited about AXIS joining that community,” said Rory Innes, the helpline’s founder and CEO. “The sponsorship from AXIS will ultimately enable us to support more victims, gain a deeper understanding of cyber risks and access a wider team of experts.”
