Argenta has announced the appointment of Karen Collier (pictured above) as construction and engineering underwriter, effective immediately.

Collier will be based in London and will report to Phil Hancock, unit head of construction and engineering.

Collier joins Argenta with over 10 years of experience in the insurance industry, specialising in construction, engineering, and liability underwriting. She most recently held the position of assistant underwriter at Axis Capital.

Her career has included roles such as claims manager at Independent Broking Solutions, assistant underwriter at Brit Insurance, and underwriting assistant at Montpelier. In addition to her underwriting expertise, Collier has been involved in training, process improvement, and risk management initiatives.

Hancock said that Collier’s appointment reflects Argenta’s focus on enhancing its construction and engineering underwriting capabilities.

“Karen’s international expertise and experience, coupled with her innovative approach to process improvement and team development, positions us to better serve our partners’ and clients’ evolving needs. We are delighted to welcome her to the team and look forward to the valuable contribution she will bring to Argenta,” Hancock said.

Argenta noted that Collier’s appointment is part of its strategy to strengthen its underwriting expertise in the construction and engineering sectors, aiming to deliver tailored solutions to its clients.

The company’s last major appointment came in at July last year, with Argenta naming Niranjan Nathan as group chief risk officer.

Nathan takes over the role from Carol-Ann Burton, who will continue as group general counsel and compliance director. Based in London, Nathan will report to Nick Moore, CEO of Argenta Holdings Limited and managing director of Argenta Syndicate Management Limited (ASML). He also joined the board of ASML.

Nathan brings over 20 years of experience in the global insurance industry, with expertise in risk, pricing, reserving, risk capital, strategy development, and transformation. He joins Argenta from EY, where he was a partner and the UK non-life actuarial practice leader.
