Fiducia MGA has appointed industry veteran Darren Pass as underwriter to be part of its recently launched engineering business.

Pass, who was with Aviva from 1988 before moving to NMU in 2012, is the latest in Fiducia’s series of appointments for its suite of engineering products unveiled in September. The new offerings are backed by Novae and a number of other Lloyd’s syndicates.

“The results of appointing a very experienced team with Tony Sturmey who was previously engineering underwriter with Fusion, Pass’s former NMU colleague and senior engineering underwriter Chris Rooke, and Peter Milner, regional underwriting manager at WRB Underwriting, have been impressive,” said Fiducia chief executive Gerry Sheehy.

He continued: “Brokers have been looking for quality products and capacity delivered by experienced professionals to meet their clients’ requirements. Darren will complement the team.”

“Prior to NMU he rose to underwriter at Aviva where he spent 24 years,” added Sheehy. “He has an outstanding track record of delivering quality advice and service to his clients and he enjoys an excellent reputation with the brokers.”

Last month Fiducia appointed former Fusion Insurance marine head Debbie Sudlow as part of underwriting and operations. The Leeds-based firm plans further expansion over the next year.
