Specialty lines managing general agent Ensurance has welcomed 2020 with something new – its first office beyond London.
Aimed at developing the market under the leadership of regional development manager Ian Fox who came onboard last year, the MGA’s Spinningfields-based site in Manchester comes to life with the arrival of senior construction underwriter Clark Gardiner (pictured, left) and construction underwriter Nick Lappin (pictured, right).
Each bringing more than a decade of construction insurance expertise, Gardiner and Lappin join Ensurance from Tokio Marine Kiln and Allianz, respectively. Their appointments are effective immediately.
“In three years, we’ve progressed from day one with a small team working from a hotel lobby, to opening our second office with a total underwriting team of 16 supporting eight lines of business,” recalled Ensurance chief executive Tim James.
“Manchester is well-known for its vibrant and established insurance market and was the obvious choice for us to access and better service the regional UK broker community and their clients.”
The CEO added: “2019 was a year of challenges but ultimately success and growth for Ensurance.
“We start this year in excellent shape and are keen to build on the foundations we have laid, maintaining our focus on our core construction and terrorism portfolios, while being ready to pursue new, profitable specialty lines, if the opportunity and timing is right.”
