Lyndon Wood, the former cage-fighter who set up his insurance business at age 19, is among the keynote speakers at the Introbiz Expo happening today at Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff.
“We are proud to be the headline sponsor of one of Wales’ biggest business events and as a keynote speaker I’m looking forward to sharing knowledge with owners of both new and established businesses who may be struggling in certain areas,” said Wood, chief executive of Moorhouse Group Ltd’s ConstructaQuote.com, Black & White, and Xbroker.
Aside from joining the likes of sprint athlete Jamie Baulch and top business adviser Alison Edgar as speaker, the owner of SME (small- and medium-sized enterprises) broker Constructaquote.com will also act as a judge on a competition which will grant a year’s worth of mentoring from Hayley Parsons OBE.
Growing ConstructaQuote.com organically to become not only the largest independent broker in Wales but also a top 100 insurance broker in the UK, Wood currently employs over 110 people at Caerphilly-based Moorhouse Group. He launched Black & White in February to offer specialised professional indemnity insurance brokerage for the UK’s SME market.
“When you grow organically it’s a tougher gig – in my mind I should be 10 times bigger than I am, but I’m not because we’ve done it organically and there is a right and wrong in that,” Wood told Insurance Business in July. “I have seen consolidators really fail at organic growth because they are so used to buying using other people’s capital but don’t build value.”
The Introbiz Expo features more than 50,000 sq ft of exhibition space, with about 200 UK and international exhibitors participating.
