McLarens, the global claims provider, named Klaas Brand (photo above) as managing director of its Netherlands operation, effective Jan. 1, 2025.
As managing director, he leads the executive management and the Dutch business. He manages offices in Eindhoven, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Schiphol and Zwolle.
Brand, who has more than 30 years of experience, previously served as the company’s operations director. He has broad commercial market experience, handling diverse cases of liability claims across all classes.
Last year, Brand was re-elected as chairman of NIVRE, the Dutch Institute of Registered Experts/Registered Loss Adjusters, a position he was elected to serve for three years back in 2021. This year, he is set to take up the presidency of the European Federation of Loss Adjusting Experts for one year. He is also a member of De Letselschaderaad, an organisation consisting of all parties involved in handling personal injury cases.
Commenting on his new role, Brand said that he remains committed to continuing the success the company is experiencing in growing in the Netherlands, which he attributed to their regional knowledge and technical expertise.
“We have grown the team to 67 colleagues, up from 35 just three years ago, and revenues have doubled,” he noted. “Together with the Executive and senior management team, we will continue to build on this success and ensure we resolve claims quickly and fairly for our clients.”
Brand assumes the role from co-founder Gerrit Taal, who will remain a board member. Taal will continue to serve clients and use his extensive knowledge base and industry network to support the continued growth of the company. He will also focus on training the next generation of adjusters at the company.
“We’ve been planning this transition since 2018,” Taal said. “I look forward to my new role, doing what I love and supporting our next generation of talent.”
Maarten Schaap, who was also recently promoted to director, will support Brand in his new role. Schaap has more than 15 years of experience with the company. He has significant experience in civil and architectural damage cases.
The executive team is also supported by a senior management team of six senior loss adjusters, including Nathalie van Beek, Gerwin Vos, Roeland Steenvoorden, Sydney Boogaard, Rudie van Veen and Sander van Amelsvoort.
