Global claims services provider McLarens has appointed Alistair Jacob (pictured) as its first-ever head of London international.
In the newly created role, Jacob will oversee the firm’s expanding presence in the Lloyd’s and London insurance markets, operating from McLarens’ Lime Street office.
The key hire will report to Steven Wallace, managing director for the EMEA region, and lead a team tasked with handling complex, high-value claims while coordinating assignments through the London international hub.
Jacob brings with him an impressive four decades of experience, having specialised in managing commercial, specialty, and reinsurance claims. His career includes extensive work with the Lloyd’s market, where he first started handling claims in 1992.
Jacob has managed losses across numerous sectors, including catastrophe response, commercial property, political violence, and energy. He also has experience in claims related to construction, marine ports and terminals, and other industries.
Prior to joining McLarens, Jacob served as managing director of Dekra Loss Adjusters & Surveyors, where he was responsible for overseeing regional teams and managing responses to large-scale events such as hurricanes and earthquakes.
Jacob’s prior roles include senior leadership positions at York International (now Sedgwick), Axis International, and Crawford & Company.
“McLarens is focused on providing better outcomes for complex, commercial, and specialty losses via a global network of technical experts,” Jacob noted. “Its London international offering embodies this expertise and reflects McLarens’ dedication to the London specialty risk market.
“London remains a global insurance centre, and I am excited to be part of McLarens’ continued growth and success in this market.”
The company’s London international hub supports McLarens’ global network, specialty lines, and sector-focused teams in serving London market players in respect of their international exposures.
Wallace added: “Alistair not only brings a wealth of industry knowledge and technical expertise but also holds significant standing in the London market.
“Our London international hub is a testament to McLarens’ commitment to delivering the highest level of service, and Alistair’s considerable leadership and loss adjusting experience will undoubtedly be an asset to the team.
“Our message to brokers and underwriters is that we are committed to providing this market with the best expertise, people, and technology.”
