Aon has announced a key appointment in its leadership team with the addition of Mona Barnes, who is set to take on the role of chief claims officer for the Global Broking Centre (GBC) and UK operations.
In her new role, Barnes will assume responsibility for leading teams of claims professionals dedicated to servicing the London Market and UK Regional client segments. She will play an integral role within Aon's London-based Wholesale & Specialty Broking (GBC) Executive Team and the Global Claims Leadership Team.
According to her LinkedIn, Barnes led Swiss Re Group's Key Case & Large Loss Management team and served as a vice president of Chubb Overseas Claims Management. She is also renowned for her involvement in industry forums, including her advisory role at the RAND Institute for Civil Justice.
Commencing on October 30, Barnes will report directly to James Baum, global head of wholesale & specialty broking, and Neil Harrison, global chief claims officer.
“Mona is an experienced, innovative leader and will bring to Aon significant experience across a broad array of risk classes and complex claims issues,” Baum said.
“The delivery of best-in-class claims outcomes and services for clients is a key differentiator for Aon. Adding Mona to our team in this vitally important leadership position reinforces our commitment to clients, colleagues, insurers, and other business partners across all facets of claims,” Harrison said.
A recent report from Aon also revealed that global insured losses from natural disasters hit $88 billion by the end of the third quarter, a figure 17% higher than the 21st century annual average.
