Zurich Insurance Group has named a replacement for its outgoing group chief risk officer next year.
Joining Zurich on October 01, 2017 is Alison Martin, head of life & health business management at
Swiss Re. She will succeed Cecilia Reyes as group CRO in January 2018.
At Swiss Re – where she has been working for almost one and a half decades – Martin has held a series of senior management positions involving transformation, commercial business, and value creation. Prior to Swiss Re, the qualified accountant spent eight years in insurance-focused audit and advisory roles at PwC.
“Alison represents an impressive blend of business results orientation, financial expertise, and people skills,” commented Zurich group chief executive Mario Greco. “She’s demonstrated that she can grow businesses based on a deep understanding of market dynamics, risk balancing and capital management, and is precisely the type of high-energy executive we were seeking to build on Cecilia’s accomplishments.”
Part of Zurich’s executive committee as soon as she comes on board, Martin will serve as group CRO-designate working closely with Reyes before assuming the group CRO role full-time.
“In her over 16 years with Zurich, Cecilia has made a significant contribution in senior risk, finance, and investment roles. In her current position she has successfully managed risks across the Group and, by doing so, has created real opportunities for Zurich to flourish,” said Greco.
He continued: “On behalf of the Board, the executive committee, and all Zurich employees, I applaud Cecilia for the positive impact she has made on Zurich, and thank her for her commitment to ensuring a smooth transition.”
Reyes is retiring from Zurich in the first quarter of 2018.
