UK head of energy, marine, and construction Frank Streidl is taking on the role of head of commercial insurance in the UK at Zurich Insurance Group effective in the New Year.
Streidl, who has been with Zurich since 2010, is succeeding Rob Kuchinski. Retiring at the end of 2022, Kuchinski has held the position for three and a half years. He was concurrently global head of energy.
“It’s with a heavy heart we say goodbye to Rob, as he returns to the US to be with his family and enjoy his retirement,” commented Zurich UK chief executive Tim Bailey. “Rob has played an instrumental role in making our commercial insurance business the success it is today.
“Zurich has an abundance of very talented individuals, one of whom is Frank, and I am delighted he is joining our executive committee to help us take the business to the next level. Rob is leaving the commercial insurance business in an extremely safe pair of hands, and I look forward to working with Frank.”
Swiss-based Sierra Signorelli, the insurance group’s CEO for commercial insurance, added that Streidl is a strong and capable successor to Kuchinski, whose “commitment and passion will be missed”. She went on to describe the UK as among Zurich’s most important commercial insurance markets.
Meanwhile Streidl had this to say: “I’m very proud to have the opportunity to lead such a talented group of people. In the last few years, we’ve successfully rebalanced our portfolio. I’m really looking forward to leading the commercial insurance team through the next stages of our strategy and joining the UK executive committee.”
Zurich called Streidl’s appointment, which is subject to regulatory approval, “another great example of internal talent progression” at the insurer.
