Zurich UK is offering 100 new apprenticeship places this year, as part of its bid to “attract young talent and futureproof its workforce.”
The insurer is expanding the apprenticeship programme to include new placements in HR, marketing, and data protection.
Applications will be open from February 6 to March 19, with slots available across 12 business areas including data science, operations and IT, and finance and claims. Apprenticeships will be open for people who are just starting their insurance careers to those with master’s qualifications or at a later stage in their careers.
“Zurich sees the value in attracting top talent with skills across the board, which is why this year we introduced non-insurance-led disciplines in growth areas of our business,” said Zurich UK talent acquisition manager Michelle Ransome.
Besides investing in young talent, Zurich is also boosting efforts to upskill employees and ensure they can thrive in a digital economy.
The insurer said there is an 89% increase in the number of existing employee apprenticeships available for 2023, as part of a strategy to invest in data and leadership skills. Qualifications such as coaching professionals, data technicians, senior leaders, and data analysts are up for grabs.
Since 2017, Zurich has supported more than 500 new and existing employees with apprenticeships, including more than 60 workers who have achieved a master’s or equivalent qualification in data, digital, accountancy, engineering, and leadership.
Zurich predicts it will use £1.75 million of the government-funded apprenticeship levy this year.
