Zurich UK has broadened its regional network by opening new offices in Leeds and Bristol, as well as bringing in an additional underwriting team in Southampton.
“Regional brokers are a vital part of the intermediated insurance ecosystem, and the most effective way through which insurers can support regional markets,” said David Nichols, the insurer’s UK head of retail, in an emailed release.
“The value and importance of local trading relationships and knowledge cannot be underestimated, which is why we’re so pleased that these new offices will bring us closer to our broker partners.”
According to Zurich UK, the new Leeds office will be manned by 35 people. Already in post is new underwriter Phil McCaw, with a second hire confirmed for the near future. In Bristol, the new premises at the Spectrum Building will be used to service the Southwest and South Wales.
Meanwhile, a property and casualty underwriting team has been added to the Whitley office. The team consists of mid-market underwriters Thomas Pickett, Ashley Miller, Dawn Strong, and Matt Sandle.
At the same time, Zurich’s Manchester office will be refurbished to provide more space for broker meetings. With the announced expansions, Zurich now operates out of 10 regions across the UK.
